The Agency has both statutory and contractual responsibilities.
These include the development of a comprehensive
plan to address the substance abuse service needs
within its jurisdiction; contracting for substance
abuse prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation
services; reviewing license applications by treatment
providers; serving as a clearinghouse for client
service data; and developing and submitting budget
requests, as well as financial reports to MDPH/CSAS.
Services supported by the Agency
are provided by licensed organizations with highly
trained professional
staffs.
Other Agency activities include development
of grant proposals, providing technical assistance
to service providers, auditing the funded system,
establishment of Employee Assistance Programs,
contracting for assessment services, networking
with other health care and human services professionals,
and participation in community activities specific
to substance abuse.
